History

Moscow City University was founded in 1995 under the initiative of the Moscow Government and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. The first rector of the University was our fellow countryman, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Viktor Vasilyevich Ryabov. Currently, the rector of MCU is Igor Mikhailovich Remorenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences.

Samara branch of MCU was founded in 1997 in accordance with the order of Moscow department for education. It is highly ranked among the universities of Samara region, and has one of the leading positions in training of teaching staff.

The structure of Samara brunch of MCU includes 3 faculties: the Faculty of Pedagogy and

Psychology, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Law and Management.

Samara branch prepares teachers in various fields (mathematics, computer science, history, Russian and foreign languages, social studies, primary education teachers), lawyers, sociologists, managers, linguists, local lore specialists, psychologists, and specialists in the field of advertising and public relations.

Over the years of work, the faculty teaching staff has trained more than 12 thousand graduates, also majoring in fields of preschool pedagogy, international relations, foreign regional studies, linguistics (English and Chinese), which for the first were time introduced in the Samara city.

More than 800 specialists have been trained under a cooperation agreement with the city department for education, and now more than 50% of school leaders come from Samara branch of MCU.

Samara branch of MCU cooperates with major foreign educational institutions and organizations in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, conducts seminars, trainings and master classes, implements advanced training programs and professional retraining.

Since 2012 “Vostok” Chinese Center has been operating in Samara branch. Its main objective is to popularize the Chinese language and culture. It is also the venue for consultations and Chinese proficiency examinations, one of which is HSK. There is also a library of Chinese literature.

Since 2020 Samara branch has been implementing a project of academic mobility for teachers and researchers, which is one of the most important areas of international and educational activities of the university.

Today, education at Samara Campus of MCU is carried out in 20 areas of study, including 11 Bachelor's degree programs, 5 Master's degree programs, and 4 programs for advanced professional learning. The educational process is conducted through full-time, part-time, and distance learning formats.

At Samara branch of MCU special attention is paid to student science. An annual "Science Day" is held where students actively participate in Olympiads, forums, all-Russian and regional scientific-practical conferences.

Bachelor's and Master's students at Samara branch of MCU regularly receive support for academic mobility from the "University Science" foundation.

Samara Campus of MCU is socially oriented, so in recent years we have been increasing the number of state-funded places in almost all Bachelor's and Master's programs. Prices for paid education are affordable for many people, at the same time they allow students to receive high-quality education. Comfortable study conditions, internships abroad, communication with foreign peers, mobility, openness to interesting new ideas, youthfulness and experience of staff ready to create conditions for creative, professional, and personal growth, support any student initiatives - this is what has been attracting applicants for more than twenty years and what we are rightfully proud of.
