History
Since the day Samara branch Moscow city university was founded great attention is paid to studying foreign languages. Filimonova Liubov Nikolaevna who was at the origins of the faculty and the department of the foreign languages became its first dean. The faculty has managed training professional teachers of foreign languages since 1998.
In 2011 the faculty opened a new direction of training “Linguistics”; the same year another direction “Advertiseent and PR” was opened here.
In conditions of globalization foreign language is an important component of any specialist’s professional competence. Interpriters are demanded in politics, industry, medicine, economics and culture.
Another important direction is preparing professional PR- managers.
PR-specialists form positive image of the company, promote seller’s goods and services and appears to be an important element in every modern organization or company.
Who and how teaches the students?
To prepare linguists-translators and PR-specialists there are departments at the faculty:
Department of foreign languages and modern learning technologies of foreign languages and department of filology and mass communications.
Students are tought by highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff of doctors of Sciences, professors, candidates of Sciences and associate professors. Practical language courses are tought by foreign specialists, native speakers.
The training of linguists-translators is held on the basis of two European languages: English (first foreign language), Chinese or German (the second foreign language is chosen by the student).
Students have practise in England, China and Taiwan to perfect their linguistic skills.
